Mary Lake Motessori Preschool

We serve children 2 1/2 years to 11 years of age.

Mary Lake Montessori offers one of the Madison areas finest preschool and afterschool programs. We serve students from Waunakee, Madison, Westport, Middleton and nearby communities. Our programs and curriculum are designed to fit you and your child's needs.

Preschool Program

There are three preschool classrooms at Mary Lake Montessori. Two classrooms are comprised of 18 children with two lead teachers and one assistant. Each classroom has a mixed age group from 2 ½ to 5 years old. Our third classroom is a Waunakee School District sponsored 4-Year-Old Kindergarten class. There are 20 children with 2 lead teachers and one assistant. One of the lead teachers is a DPI Licensed teacher for Early Childhood.

Preschool classes run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and are available in a 3, 4, or 5 day option. The 4-Year-Old Kindergarten class runs from 7:40 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. or an afternoon class from 11:35 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. 4K is only available in the 5 day option.

Child care, or wrap-around care, is available before and after the preschool and 4K programs. Please see our curriculum and daily schedule for more information.

The summer program for preschoolers is scheduled very similarly to the school year with more outside time scheduled and "summertime fun."

Afterschool Program

We offer an Afterschool program as well as summer programs for preschoolers through 4th graders.

The Afterschool program and summer programs for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade do not utilize the Montessori materials but provide a more relaxed atmosphere in which children are allowed more free time in a structured environment.

During the school year, children in this age group arrive to find a nutritious snack prepared for them. They then spend time outdoors for exercise and down time from their school hours. The day is finished with a choice of arts and crafts, games and free play. Children are given the opportunity to complete homework if desired.

During the summer, afterschool children are allowed both structured time with activities, and free choice play as well as quiet, down time, art classes and a few field trips to area activities and attractions.
